Please help! Reading analog - Arduino w/ firmata

I'm just learning many things, but have a bit of a grasp on code.  My problem is this, Processing is not reading analog information from my Arduino.  

-I've taken the steps to upload standard firmata to my arduino
-The circuit works (I've verified with previous code)
-I have the correct COM port selected, since using example 'arduino output' lights up my LED in a digital pin
-When I run example 'arduino input', it is unable to read data from analog pin 1.  

Please help!  I've read many of the other threads, and I seem to be stuck!
