Hi,

Any experience with creating a customized pattern file for artoolkit?
If so: what's the best way to do it?

thanks!

none at all

http://www.hitl.washington.edu/artoolkit/documentation/devmulti.htm

"To create a new template pattern, first print out the file blankPatt.gif found in the patterns directory. This is just a black square with an empty white square in the middle. Then create a black and white or color image of the desired pattern that fits in the middle of this square and print it out. The best patterns are those that are asymmetric and do not have fine detail on them."

looks like you just draw your pattern based on their template and then run a program and just show it to your webcam.

I tried. It produces a pattern, I can read the pattern but
the pattern is not detected.
Any ideas on your side ?

Ok, found my problem.
This is one way to generate a pattern:
1. go to
flash.tarotaro.org/blog/2008/12/14/artoolkit-marker-generator-online-released/
2. Follow the instructions there AND use the slider "Marker Size" in a way that if you get the pattern ONLY the area inside the thick black frame is captured, NOT the black frame itself!

Then it works excellent and easy.
