My name is Eddy Wegman, Creative Director at Koeweiden Postma. We are a Amsterdam based design agency. koeweidenpostma.com

Among our most recent new clients is the 'Van Gogh Museum' in Amsterdam.

We just started the inventory and visual approach in order to create the new visual identity for the 'Van Gogh Museum'.
One of the main focal-points in the new style will be to create a 'toolbox' with patterns and shadings, based on a series of brush-strokes that are characteristic for the various periods in van Gogh's work, that can be applied to broaden an deepen the new visual identity.

We have selected a number of these 'brush-strokes'.
These have to be 'translated' into multifunctional static and moving patterns.

We see a lot of possibilities in Processing. We are therefor looking for a designer/programmer who wants to collaborate with us on this project.

Best regards,
Eddy Wegman

Is there a timeframe? When will it start, how long will it probably take?
Sounds definitely interesting.

Hi Cedric and other interested,

We are in the first phase of the design process.  We need to present first sketches the third week of January (18th). We are now hand-drawing 'van gogh' brushstroke patterns that we want to use in the identity. I think its interesting to find out if they can be generated, and still have a natural touch to them before the 18th. Next phase would be motion. Flowing van gogh patterns in the museum

About the timeframe. As i said, we are in the first phase until the end of January. It would be great to look at some first sketches and experiment a little. When we have green light, the first part can be finished in February. (static pattern generator). From then to April we can work on the motion part.

best regards
eddy

Hi Subpixel

Looks nice. It is not what we are looking for, but hey that would be a great coincidence, right? Van Gogh has about seven clear different brushstrokes. We abstract them and generate a pattern that will be iconic for van Gogh, and is usable as a part of the CI. We don't want to bring paintings to life or recreate them.
