What does a Processing-oriented web API look like?

Is there any standard or particularly easy-to-use method for bringing data to visualize into Processing? If you could design the perfect Processing-oriented data API what would it look like?

I haven't used Processing enough to know if there are any best practices but I'm currently designing a data source API that I would like people to visualize in Processing. I'm hoping that if the data is easy to use within Processing someone will do my job for me by visualizing my dataset. Smiley
