extracting information from midi files

I want to extract specific properties from a midi file, and make animations to go along with these properties. I am having trouble finding a processing library to extract specific properties from midi files. Can anyone help me find one?

Some properties I would like to extract are: Volume (sound level), Pitch, and Vibrato, among others.
