saveFrame causes pause
Oct 23rd, 2009, 10:08pm

I am setting up a week long art installation, using processing, video capture and some other stuff.  The processing window is being projected onto a wall in the gallery.

I want to periodically take a screengrab of what is being showing on the screen.  However, if i set up the saveFrame command to run every minute, the sketch jerks every minute as it is saving the file.

Any advice?  Do I just need a faster computer?

Maybe on save command you can start a new thread which does the saveFrame(). Might still slow down a little the sketch, but it should be less noticeable.

What i did when i had that problem once was just getting an external screenshot programm where you can define regions/windows to cap and that took a screenshot every x minutes.... that works fine as loong as you dont need to take a screenshot every exact frame.
