Vector Fields, any examples / projects / code?

I'm about to start work on a project using vector fields as a possible solution. So I'm gathering research in this thread.

Does anyone know of any projects that have used vector fields before? Any tutorials so I don't take the long route in setting things up? Any cool implementations?
