PS3 camera for windows with GTK+
Sep 7th, 2009, 10:07pm

Hi guys,

I am looking for someone who has managed to get the ps3 camera running (in windows) with processing.

According to a site(which apparently I can not post because I haven't posted 5 messages on the forum yet Smiley ) it should work perfectly by using the GSVideo Library. Search on google for Trick Out Your PS3 Eye Webcam, Best Cam for Vision, Augmented Reality.

It works fine with the testing softwares provided with the drivers, but processing simply does not see the camera.

Anyone who got it working and can advice?

Thanks!

Doros

JMYROn works with it fine. There is a small windows addon that is required for installation. This allows JMYROn  to utilize any camera device connected to the system

I will look for the link and reply here

Does anyone know what the small windows addon is? Is it vdig? If that is it download version 1.0.1 here http://www.shiffman.net/vdig/. Any other tips on getting the camera to work would be appreciated!

I'm running vista home premium 64 bit. The camera is recognized by my pc after I installed the driver written by Alex P. On the other hand there seems to be stability issue and resolution issue. JMyron lib only recoginzes 320*240 as the forced dimensions and works at this resolution. I kept my JMyron demo program on for >10 minutes and it didn't crash. If I try to get 640*480 then objects appear in 2-3 different places on screen, typical for JMyron if it can't do the resolution. I've not tested other video libs since JMyron seems to be the only one that needs no other installs to work on a PC. I'll try to test it on 32 bit systems sometime later but my overall expectation is the same. I also tried amcap and it only captures 640*480 for about 5000 frames before it's unable to pull any more frames. Virtual dub can't deal with this cam at all.

hehe thank you again. I was asking you what problem you have with JMyron on your thread. Like I said on your thread about AlexP's driver, 32-bit seems to work but 64-bit seems unstable. What OS are you using?
