Snow Leopard performance drop

Ok, I just got a new MacBook Pro.. Snow Leopard, 8 Gig of Memory, 3Giz, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR3 memory (yes I enabled the high performance chip).  You can't build a faster 15" MacBook Pro.

So I fire up my processing app to see the nice performance improvement... not.  Frame rates dropped by 25%.  ??   Cry

After posting this, I noticed Processing 1.07 and upgraded, but no real improvement in performance.  My old MacBook still beats my new one by at least 20fps.

I had the same issue on Leopard though, some time ago. I found out after some random searching that changing the preferred Java Version in Utilities>System Preferences worked out and I was back at normal framerate. I don't really remember which Java version I used, I am on Snow Leopard myself now so the only thing I can see is JRE 6....

But in my case it used to be a choice between 1.5 and 1.42?

I don't even know what altered these settings in the first place, maybe a Software Update or something...

Hope this helps.
