Processing 1.0.7 includes Snow Leopard updates
Sep 5th, 2009, 6:40am
The major update in this release is a tweak or two to make Processing run as a 32-bit application under OS X Snow Leopard. This brings back the video library, and hopefully the serial library too.
I'm in the middle of several projects, so I don't have a machine running Snow Leopard full time yet, and there may still be issues. If you run into problems, post them at dev.processing.org/bugs, so that we can track them, and I'll try to fix 'em soon.
For the video library, you probably need to install QuickTime 7. After abandoning it for years, Apple has officially deprecated QuickTime for Java, so we'll be redoing video support for a future release (probably called 1.5). The new video library will be based on Andres Colubri's GSVideo. I strongly encourage anyone doing video work to begin using GSVideo sooner rather than later, so that it can get more testing, and we can get the bugs sorted out before we make it the default: http://codeanticode.wordpress.com/category/gstreamer/ (The Processing 1.5 video API will not change, we'll just be using gstreamer instead of qtjava behind the scenes.)
PROCESSING 1.0.7 (REV 0169) - 4 September 2009
Bug fixes and updates, also some tweaks for Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
[ changes ]
+ Tweaks for Mac OS X Snow Leopard, to force it to run in 32-bit mode. This should bring back the video library (if temporarily), and hopefully fix serial as well, though I didn't have a serial device handy to test.
+ Fix problem where line highlighting was off in 'static' mode. http://dev.processing.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=1263
+ Auto-format was killing Unicode characters (how did this last so long?) http://dev.processing.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=1312
+ PVector.angleDistance() returning NaN due to precision errors http://dev.processing.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=1316
+ Removed a major try/catch block from PApplet.main(), hopefully this will allow some exception stuff to come through properly.
