Bug? Old apps won't delete on export?
Jul 31st, 2009, 1:57pm

Before I go posting this as a bug, I just wanted to see if anyone has heard of this or has experienced it (or knows a workaround for it).

I tried exporting an application on my home computer and something strange is happening. It worked the first time, but now I can't get a new export to overwrite the old one. I have the preference box checked to do this, but I get error messages in the console saying it can't delete the previous app. So I tried manually deleting the app (I've had to do this for applets as well) and I get an error saying that the folder is in use and can't be manipulated. So I close down every thing so that nothing is open but the folder with my app in it, and I'm still getting a message saying the folder is in use somewhere. So now I've got a bit of a problem because I can't export a new app, and I can't delete the old app. So I'm stuck. Strange. Anyone heard of this?

I'm on Vista 64-bit here.

It sounds like a process that's using the files has hung.  Have you tried re-booting?  Alternatively fire up Task Manager and see if any of the running processes might be causing the problem and kill it.  I wouldn't file this as a bug - it could be a general Java issue and anyway it's a fairly common problem on Windoze...

Yes, shortly after I posted that I opened up task manager and found some java processes still running. I ended them all and the problem was solved. However, that's still pretty annoying that it's happening and that I have to do that every time I want to export. But I agree, it seems more of a java problem than a processing problem. Either way, thanks for the reply.
