IR Camera
Jun 14th, 2009, 12:16am

Hey All,

I am a uni student in Sydney. I am trying to create something like "Mortal Engine"/"Glow"/"Body Navigation" for my final project, where the images that are projected, are controlled by the viewers in the space.
I was wondering what sort of equipment would be best to use?
I would like to track the movements of the people but not the actual other projections. I've read some posts about IR webcams. would this do the job?

I need something that is MAC OS X compatible with a connection via USB. Also seeing as I am a student I need the cheapest possible option.

Thanks for any feedback!
D

i don't know the setup of your installation room, but i would use a normal, cheap webcam: if the cam is placed over the screen and facing the public (just like the embedded laptop cams are placed just over the screen) you'll be able to track people's movement without capturing your screen.
