Generative perspective & rhytm
May 28th, 2009, 5:23pm

My goal was to use the simple rules of perspective (objects in the distance appear to move slower) to create a rhytmic pattern for audio & visuals.

The audio-part still sounds awful, but I'm currently focusing on optimizing the visual part. The illusion of depth is easily achieved, and in addition I shift some rgb values around to enhance the 'eclipsing' effect that occurs after a while when the slices come back in line. Watch the middle section, when it has completely shifted color, a 'partial eclipse' occurs, when it comes back to the initial color (cyan), all colors line up.

I think the link is supposed to be:
http://tiemen.pruts.nl/files/meta_08d.zip

I saw it was an open directory, hope you don't mind Rapatski.

I haven't looked at it yet (really slow internet) but I'm going to, sounds interesting.

Yeah you were right, thanks! Changed this link.

Any help on optimizing the code will be appreciated. It fully stresses my MacBook at the moment...

Regarding the sketch: originally, one was asked to manually add the active rows, the illusion of depth would appear gradually. Now I filled the "active rows" with a for loop, which enables this eclipsing effect but at the cost of the interactive charm. :/
