Video performance on Processing over others

How's processing's video recording/playing performance compared to other programs?

I've used Max/MSP and greatly disliked how it did movies. I then moved onto flash and it's flash media live encoder and thought it was amazing for conventional usage, but I'm now having trouble using it due to it's limitation and my goals.

What I'm trying to do is record Movie 1, while movie 2 plays, then switch to movie 2 recording, while Movie 1 plays, then repeat that over and over for god knows how long (the movies will be 10 seconds long only, but the switching and what not will last for a whole day). Also live streaming will be somewhere in the mix.

I was wondering if processing can handle this? Does it need to buffer or do anything weird? Anything I need to watch for? The switch from Movie 1 recording and playing Movie 2, to Movie 2 recording and Movie 1 playing, needs to be seamless.

I plan on programming with it tomorrow, and scrapping my already finished Flash program. I'm using a ping sensor, gobetwino and arduino, and will be testing with a HV30 camera. Thanks.
