How to create custom ControlP5 controllers?

Do i have to create a new class extended by the Controller class, overwrite the inherited methods, then create a new class extended by ControlP5 and add a method, which adds the new controller to the standard ControlP5?

Or is there another possibility? Maybe without writing a new class?

I want to create a XY-Koas-Pad for my MIDI controller (nuigroup.com/forums/viewthread/4993/) and a Knob having its zero orientation facing down and a lock, so you can't jump from min to max and backwards.
