DecoratR Multitouch and Webcam fun
Mar 13th, 2009, 10:40pm

Hi folks,

for our software architecture for user interfaces class we created the DecoratR. A fun little application that plays with a multi-touch interface component architecture. It uses your webcam to capture a picture that you can then decorate with random funny items.
Components implement the behaviors tap, pinch (not enough time to make rotate work though Sad ) and drag.

All source code (eclipse project) and a complete documentation is available from:
http://www.bloodyidiots.com/pics.php

Also some funny pictures we took with the app.
We'd be happy is somebody plays and has some fun with it! Let us know any comments, extensions and questions you have.

If you want to play with it and don't have a TUIO multi-touch input device (probably many of you) make sure you get the TUIO multitouch simulator from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/reactivision/TUIO_Simulator-1.4pre2.zip?download

Cheers!

I came, I saw, I lolled:

It seems like the logical extension of this software would be to make it work over live video; i.e. the decorations would try to motion track whatever anchor point they were dropped onto. I haven't done this with processing yet, but there's obviously a lot of people doing that.

Ha great Smiley
Seems like the application fullfilled is sole purpose: Make people laugh!

I like the idea having it with live video. Did something like that with Jitter earlier. Sounds like a fun project for vacations...
