Problem with Processing and Windows Vista
Feb 16th, 2009, 9:19pm

Hello. I have notebook with Windows Vista and I'm trying to run Processing on it, but it doesn't start. All it does is displaying the start-up screen and then it disappears from processes in task manager. Do you have any suggestions?

All the best,
Aleksandar

Yes, I have Java SE Development Kit 6 Update 11. I have also tried to run Windows version with and without Java (expert and non-expert) but with no success.

Mmm, we had this problem with Processing 1.0 on WinXP (Bug 986 : "An error occurred while starting the application" with Processing 0154 and later), release 1.0.1 solved this, but it seems that some people still have difficulties (Bug 1100 : 1.0.1 "expert" does not find Java, exact system unspecified).

Looking at the latter bug, I would suggest to try and move the Processing folder to a path without space (and the JDK too), sometime I see Java having issues with this.

I don't know if the above bugs are related, but the threads give some hints on what to check, it might be useful.

That didn't help. All the paths are very short and without blank spaces, but the problem still exists.

weird.

could it be an issue with the java PATH in your environment variables?

again, i hate to ask, and it will probably complicate things, but have you tried using processing in eclipse?
