im new to processing and havent started yet, but i want to clear up some questions before i start programming. first off, the reason i learned about processing is because i wanted to program in arduino (of which i have not started yet either) and my friend who knows both told me to learn processing also. How will processing help me? i heard they are similar.

second i have vista, will that be a problem? for processing or arduino.

the program for making arduino sketches is based off of the Processing program for making sketches and the interfaces look almost identical.

If you are thinking about getting an arduino and you dont have any programming experience then learning processing will definitely help you understand programming your sketches when you get your arduino.

in all, if you plan on making serious sketches with your arduino you will probably start using processing anyways so you might as well get familiar with it.

vista is not a problem for processing or arduino as far as I know.
