.AVI/Other video format support

Hi everyone, I've been looking around the forums, and haven't found any real information on this subject. As I'm developing on a mac, I have been hit with the Java Quicktime bug, the one that crashes or hangs the app after a minute or so, and I am therefore looking for alternatives. I know in the bug report, Fry said to use a different format, but I've been looking around and have only found that the Video class only uses .mov files. What are my options here? I have access to a PC. Seems a little strange if it only affects one OS though.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated, thanks.
