hey all-i'm gonna start out as many others do...

i'm new to Processing and being a visual artist it excites me massively.

a few years ago i spent a huge amount of time creating a video version of the slitscan technique [though it appears in hindsight that this is already an established technique in its own right], nonetheless i achieved my goal with many tiring hours in FCP with 720 separate layers of prerecorded footage sliced into pixel thin strips and offset in timing by a frame or 2

the result is a fluid version of the famous slitscan technique, though my solution was long winded and painful to apply to new footage and nightmarish to render

if anyone out there can point me in the right direction to achieve a sketch that will allow me to apply th technique to live or prerecorded footage with the ability to apply variables like offsetting the slits at various timings/having a cueing button to start stop the effect/or even possibly applying the technique in different fashions

i have had varied success in altering found code to try and get an understanding of how Processing works and the potentials of it, so any advice would be greatly appreciated

you have GSVideo library and there are ready programs with slitscan and framingham:
http://processing.org/reference/libraries/index.html#computer_vision

also, you can have nice slitscan with vvvv. Install it and run timewarp.v4p program which you'll find in girlpower folder:
