1.0 Development Process
Oct 9th, 2008, 2:43am

Hello,

We're starting to get close to the release of Processing 1.0. I'm starting this post to make the "process" of the 1.0 release more transparent. Ben Fry continues to lead the software development with his great energy, knowledge, and insight. In addition there have also been wonderful contributions from the small team we've been working with. I've asked them to add to this thread -- to introduce what they have been working on.

Casey

I'm Tom Carden, I take care of Processing Blogs and started the Processing Hacks wiki with Karsten Schmidt (toxi):

http://processingblogs.org
http://processing.org/hacks

Processing Hacks is now hosted at processing.org and is open for submissions from anyone with an account here. Ira Greenberg is taking it over from Karsten and I and I'm looking forward to seeing it grow under his watchful eye.

If you have a blog that covers Processing-related topics and you'd like to take part in Processing Blogs then feel free to drop me an email – tom at tom-carden.co.uk – and I'll add it to the list as soon as I can.

I'm keeping an eye on hacks, and look forward to being able to invest some "real" time to it in the near future. I'm working on some tutorials (for the new fabulous tutorials section that Dan Shiffman is coordinating). Through the generosity of my employer, Miami University, I'm participating in a series of Processing summits (Oxford Project)–assisting in the release of 1.0. I am also working on another Processing book with Friends of ED–more on that in the coming months.

Ira

Howdy all!

I'm Daniel Shiffman and I've been teaching programming with Processing at http://itp.nyu.edu for a little over 4 years now.  I'm thrilled to be able to help with Processing 1.0 however I can.  Right now, I'm working on expanding the brand new "tutorials" section of processing.org (see: http://www.processing.org/learning/tutorials/).  If anyone has a tutorial they'd like to contribute, please write me!

I'm also participating in the workshops generously sponsored by Miami University and graciously hosted by Ira Greenberg.

Well .. besides helping with the website here and there i've bee working on new icons and other design elements for 1.0.
A while back i made a paper+glue style  mockup of the tools menu which made it into 014x already. For that i have a Live Coding tool which i'm gonna release once it's stable.
And i'm teaching 1 data visualization course at the FH Mainz and 2 other courses, another data viz and one called media art techniques, at the HfG Offenbach in Germany. All courses are based on Processing.
