glowing stroke
Aug 26th, 2008, 8:23am

Can someone point me to a stroke glow?
I've seen a handful of these done in various ways, but no good examples.
I want things to look a little more organic then a normal stroke.. maybe adding noise?

Thanks

I would draw the line several time at the same place, with decreasing width and varying the color intensity (and perhaps opacity).

you could use noise to create the random positions of lots of semi transparent ellipses as the program draws through the stroke.  as they mount up, the 'shading' fills in around the stroke. you could add a varible that makes the ellipse bigger/less transparent the closer it is to the stroke, giving you a fall-off effect.

you should try it the way philho said but try to add additive blending like explained in this tutorial too, i got some great results from this. http://www.flight404.com/blog/?p=71
