Live Video Editing in Processing

Okay, so I've been working on a processing program that allows you to edit in realtime:
http://www.vimeo.com/1502877

Each bar represents a mov file.  You click, and then the output window changes to that point.  There's a bunch of other hidden features, but that's the main idea.

The problem I've been having is stability..  Anyone know if its possible to run a video intense projection with processing?

I'd love to hear any comments or suggestions you guys have on this.  Even if I can't get the stability I want with Processing, I'll probably continue development in some osx language.
