Processing on Nintendo DS?
Jul 17th, 2008, 1:45am

Hope this is the right forum Smiley  I've done a search on this site, and the web, and havn't come up with much:

Is it known if anyone has done any work on getting Processing up and running on the DS?  It seems like the perfect little platform for such things.  Not that I know if you could even get Java up and running on it, let alone what the performance would be, but it'd be interesting to know about.

Thanks!

I have no idea if a JVM exists for the DS!
I know Lua have been compiled for the DS, I suppose one could rewrite the processing API for Lua (at the cost of a syntax change), perhaps using an existing binding to GD or Cairo.

At least, the idea of Processing on DS is interesting.

Google "Java NDS" and you'll find an attempt to run Java programs on the NDS, simply called "Java for NDS". That looks promising, but I haven't tested it yet (I should give it a try).

Edit: Just downloaded the java4nds release 2 program and it's working fine. Looks very promising!

Edit again: And there's this link too which seems to provide more (graphic) functionnalities :

Has there been any solutions for this... I think it would be awesome to have a little program running that would allow u to  run processing sketches from your pocket!

You can use this following adapter to get the software to the ds. And then maybe place a few of the sketches in there to play...

Adapter > http://r4ds.cn/
DS Homebrew software > http://www.ndshb.com/

I'm just a designer and making the software for ds is a bit beyond me ... but I'd be more that happy to do the interface and visual if someone wants to take this on.
