cant acsses reference from inside pde

hello all,
i recently got a laptop it has XP with service pack 2.
i use the reference when you right click on the brown words
often to try and learn what different things do.  When i put processing on this new machine it tells
"an error occurred while trying to open" then it gives the correct file path for the html document.  

how can i get it back to normal?
(i have tried reinstalling but it didn't help.)

I think that's not the right forum section for this issue...
I suppose it will be moved.

Anyway, you should check that your default browser is set.
For example, if you go to cmd prompt in the processing\reference directory and type start break.html, you should see your default browser opens with this reference page. If not, you should set this.

okay thank you!
hopefully a moderator will move the post.
as it turns out this laptop it missing the
cmd.exe  so i guess that's why the reference dosen't work

is it possible to not have cmd.exe on a windows machine?

if you do start -> run and type "cmd" does a command prompt not show up?
