General strategy for packaging data

I'm trying to construct a MIDI sequencer using the traer.physics library. I envision sequences defined by a series of connections among particles, with each particle containing (or referring to?) a specific note / control data set.

What's holding me up is figuring out how to organize and package that data along with each particle. It'd have to be something that would facilitate frequent addition and deletion of data points, from anywhere within the set. I really have no idea how to proceed and if someone could point me in the right direction before I spend hours working in the wrong direction, I'd really appreciate it.
