PHONEME INVADERS!
http://www.kisrael.com/2008/01/21/
from the title screen:
"type the word that is sounded out before it destroys your planet or whatever"

It makes good use of some dictionary lists that are available online, actually a mix of 12dicts and CMU's Pronouncing Dictionary.

This was done in a bit over 2 hours for GloriousTrainwreck.com 's Klik of the Month competition. I used Perl for some of the dictionary parsing and wrangling. And plus I found out about loadStrings... very handy!

This is great. It's a good practice for such non-english people like me! And really fun - though I don't know all the words I'm typing :-p

But the words sometimes overlap at the bottom, and you can't see the mistake you've made.

Yeah, this is a very rough, 2-hour-coding game. I'm thinking about making a more polished (and forgiving... I find this game very difficult, and I am a native speaker who majored in English and Computer Science in college!) sequel.

Thanks for the feedback!
