video codec = performance on PC?
Oct 19th, 2007, 6:23pm

hi,
I'm working on a program which scans pixels of a 320x240 quick time video (mpeg 4 codec) on Windows, and just started out with the basic library example that reads an external .mov. It looks like it is running at 3 or 4 frames per second - my video is 2 megs in size and pretty reasonable in terms of dimensions.

I have read all about the slowness of this library on the video page, and other posts. Funny enough, I am also working on a project that uses 3 webcams simultaneousy on a 960x240 canvas, scanning the whole grid of pixels live to determine brightness zones, whithout any problems. How can this be?

Is there a different codec I should use, or another piece of code which doesn't appear on the library page to simply plyaback the video?

thanks.
