VM arguments from IDE?

Is there a way to force the IDE to run sketches with certain VM arguments?  Sometimes I would find it useful to be able to set, for instance, -ea (to enable assertions), or -verbose:gc (to log garbage collections).  If not it's no big deal, I can always do it from command line or Eclipse, but I was just curious if anyone knows if it's possible from the editor.
