tracking of blobs agaist a single difference image

I am setting up a static video camera and attempting to blob-track people in front of it. What I would like to do is look for differences between an image with no people in it and the current video frame to determine the blobs (difference matte) rather than looking for white areas.

I have seen the camera mouse example and didn't see a way to have it track multiple blobs as I am hoping to do.

Any advice would be wonderful. Thank you.
