problems viewing java on vista

hello all. I'm new to processsing and I'm having some real problems running online examples of processing work, which is frustrating because I really want to check out what people are creating.

I'm running firefox 2.0.0.4 on vista.
When I try and download the Java Runtime Environment plug in (by clicking the download prompt on missing examples) I get a unexpected installation -203 error. I cannot download JRE on IE7 as well.

I've spent the last 2 hours or so trying to find a work around and I wondered if any body else had
any suggestions.

thanks

since it's not a processing issue, i'd check sun's java forums to see if there are other problems with installing the jre on vista.

yes the java site was my first port of call. A lot of people have posted the same problem there but no solid solution has been offered. I'll post up when I get a solution. It's a bit of a pressing issue though eh. Nobody with vista is going to be able to view processing work via their browser.
