AWTException with controlP5 ???

Hi I have recently introduced the controlP5 GUI into my app and I am now getting these errors intermittendly. Are they related? Does anyone have any idea how to fix this or at least  where to catch the exception?

Exception in thread "Thread-2" JavaAWT: Assertion failure: Java exception thrown
