Processing Art
Nov 4th, 2006, 12:45am

I've been mocking with processing for about two months now and I thought I'd share some stuff with the world. The code for these is all very standard well know techniques, nothing new: particles, vectors, springs, simple collision, and such.

Just goes to show that you can make some pretty amazing things in processing very easily with some simple techniques, some nice colors, a little patience, and creativity.

I'm currently working on my web site so I'll put up the source to some of these and more hopefully soon. For now here are some pics:

** Update **
Since I first posted this I've added three more sets (each set is a different engine). Here's some more eye candy:

I love these pieces.

I am currently trying to get a paint brush stroke effect in Processing (similar to the looks of these).  Does anyone have any coding advice or resources that might help me  achieve this?

Thanks!

I have some scripts I wrote which do give a painterly effect. You can reach me at mkanemoto at gmail.

Thanks guys for the nice comments!

I've posted three more sets with some new "paiting" engines I wrote.

So far only stills. I'm slowly learning HLSL and I hope to eventually get some hardware accelerated stuff going to get motion with a similar artsy look.

mantolini:

I'd love to swap code with you - I've generated some artwork as well, but it is all particles based on using random attractor and repulsor points in a color field.

I really love the newer work.

This reminds me of Jared Tarbell's work (complexification.net), but I must say I like your style much more. Lovely.

Great job mantolini, I love the depth of field you give to your work.
I think these would look amazing in print.

I was just digging through the old messages on this board and came across this one and thought I'd give it a BUMP.

really nice work, I love it.

I'd be interested to learn more about how this type of work is created...can anyone point me to some relevant source code?

Hey Martin, I remember coming across your pics on flickr a few months ago.  Just checked them out again and man, the "vab" and "bio" sets are freakin beautiful!  I'm a big fan.

Really lovely work.  btw is there a thread in the forums where everyone has shared their flickr (and other processing relevant) urls?  If not perhaps there should be one.
