Spotlight from interior, seen on the exterior

Hey list -

I want to put the origin of a spotlight at the origin of a sphere, so it's shining outward, lighting up the edges of the sphere like a flashlight.

But I want to be looking on from the outside.  I want see when the close or far edges are lit up.

Suggestions?

lowering the opacity of the fill doesn't seem to let me do this -

thanks
jeff
