openGL woes

Please somebody help, I am at my wits' end! I can't get OpenGL to work on my laptop, although it works fine on my pc. At first, it didn't work at all, but I have now downloaded new drivers for my graphics card: VIA/S3G Unichrome Pro IGP, and openGL works in "run", but when I try "present" I get the following:

net.java.games.jogl.GL Exception: unable to create OpenGL context

Both machines had java 1.5 installed. I have now uninstalled Java 1.5 from the laptop and  downloaded the latest Processing version (which has java 1.4 on it?). This still doesn't work. What on earth can I try next?? Also, if I put Processing stuff on the web how can I stop the Java from automatically downloading the latest version? What happens if other people try to view the work
on machines with java 1.5? will openGL just not work?
Sorry if any of these questions are a bit moronic, I'm still a bit of a noob with computers in general, let alone Processing, Java etc.
