High Definition HDV DVC-PRO

Well I couldn't find anything about it anywhere so I thought I'd start a new thread.

I've got a Sony High Def camcorder which I'd like to use with Processing but can't seem to. The video library indicates it can accept DVC-PRO (Canon cameras) but not HDV (Sony cameras). Have tried on Mac and now on a PC, using Abstract Plane's VDIG, but no joy (Camera comes up as Microsoft AV/C Tape Subunit Device on the PC but won't connect to Processing - quicktime.std.StdQTException[QTJava:6.1.3g1],-2070=internalComponentErr,QT.vers:7038000)

Has anyone experienced (or solved) any similar issues. It would be EXTREEMLY useful to have High resolution video in Processing and using high res 'machine vision' cameras can be very awkward (beleive me I have done it).
