Ya'll want to be in Amsterdam for Sonic Acts this year.

Sonic Acts XI — The Anthology of Computer Art
23 – 26 februari 2006 – Paradiso / De Balie, Amsterdam

The festival includes a three-day international conference, three evenings and nights of live performances, an extensive film programme and an exhibition. A DVD and a book on the festival theme will also be published to coincide with it.

Lectures from Jasia Reichardt, Lillian Schwartz, Curtis Roads, Ben Fry, Manfred Mohr, Frieder Nake. The exhibition will include a number of key-works from the pioneers of computer-art, including works by Ben Laposky, Edward Zajec, Frieder Nake en Manfred Mohr.

Also, for anyone who has a subscription to The Wire Magazine, the SonicActs DVD will be included (I assume with the February issue).  Not sure who else has content on it, but I have a processing-made music video thingy for a song by BitShifter (http://www.bitshifter.cc).

I'm seriously considering coming to this... looking for flights right now.  If anyone has any top tips for where to stay near the conference, let me know.

Amsterdam is the Vegas of Europe - have your conference there, and everyone will turn up Smiley

The nearest place to stay actually would probably be my home Smiley
But just across the street theres a Mercure Hotel, looks quite nice, though Ive never been inside.  Its located in the Noorderstraat 46, a really quiet road nearby everthing...http://www.accorhotels.com/accorhotels/fichehotel/gb/mer/1032/fiche_hotel.shtml

Then theres the nice Lloyd Design Hotel http://www.lloydhotel.com/ which is not near but really nice. Its a bit off the city center, so I wouldnt really recommend it...
