as a random aside.. if someone who is going to attend has a windows laptop that exhibits the problem with processing not working properly when non-ascii characters are in the user name:
http://dev.processing.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=49
and wouldn't mind me debugging on it for a couple hours, i'd love to get the bug tracked down and fixed.

Too bad, I'll miss the session. I arrive on the 1st and leave on the 4th.

Looks like a good gathering, a little like the CODE sessions from 2003.

-- update: I got the dates wrong, I'm still there for the session but have to leave immediately afterwards. yay.

well, ars electronica was fantastic. the certificate for the golden nica officially reads "benjamin fry, casey reas, processing community". the golden nica is a fascinating object (hand carved from wood, gold leafed, with a plexiglass stand and a plywood case) and was transported from linz to boston by mr fry. ben told the audience at the award ceremony we would shread it and send the gold splinters around the world to processing contributors (i'm not convinced). we had some nice chats about processing with the usual suspects and met many new people. prospects for processing seem to be opening up in india, taiwan, and eastern europe.

i think we should all feel good about this for a moment and then get back to work.  Smiley
