Why multiple files?

Can someone briefly explain the benefits of using multiple panes and files instead of one big one?

For me: I was working with applets that were 20-30 pages long, and in on file, that was a drag. Had to search for everything.
Now it's all structured, with classes in its own files, functions i use in alot of sketches in another file, for easy export to other applets.

So basicly i use it for structure, and it's easier to reuse code, especially if you use classes..
