Board Protocol?
Apr 27th, 2005, 4:47am

I care what other people think of me, so I don't want to appear rude. Two questions:

How long, in general, should one wait for an acknowledgement of a posting containing a problem before trying again, perhaps in a different section to get an answer or a hint? I'm sure you don't need dupes taking up space. And I don't want to seem whiney or impatient.

Which section is most appropriate for posting questions like this one?

Well, if you think you definitely got the section wrong you can delete your own post and repost it somewhere else - I think.

Otherwise, try posting more details.  Don't start a new thread if it's the same problem.  Narrow it down, post screenshots or updated code.  Create the shortest possible program which illustrates your problem.

I don't know about other regular posters, but I tend to read the forum through the (super-secret) recent posts section - it shows 25 items, and if you haven't got a reply by the time your post drops off the end, I probably won't answer at all.  But that's just me, and I might pick it up again if you post a clarification on the same thread.

This section is for suggestions for the website and software.  I would probably ask questions about the board  in "community, collaboration, status", but there isn't really an ideal section unfortunately.
