Processing in London / dorkbot
Apr 22nd, 2005, 12:07pm

If you're in or around London, and you're interested in Processing and related topics, I'd like to encourage you to come to dorkbotlondon.  It's held on the third Wednesday of every month, and generally has good attendance from a wide range of backgrounds.

http://www.dorkbot.org/dorkbotlondon has all the details.

I'm thinking about presenting some Processing work there next month.  Get in touch if you'd like to join me.

PS: We used to have our own mailing list for dedicated Processing events, but following discussions on and off list, I've decided it would be better to take part in existing discussion groups, so we're making an effort to attend dorkbot as often as possible instead.

i love dorkbot! i've heard very good things about the london group. last summer a dorkbot/read_me was held in aarhus, denmark focusing on software. "people doing strange things with software." sometimes i wonder if there should be a permanent dorkbot-like organization for software, but i like the idea of the two being integrated (as long as the dorkbot regulars don't mind an occasional software presentation).  Wink

I was busy for the read_me/dorkbot thing, unfortunately.  I really would have liked to go.
I didn't know any movies were up - I'll take a look.

Software/multimedia/graphic art seems to make a frequent appearance at the London dorkbot.  Heck, web technology, operating systems and programming languages seem to be acceptable too.  They do a fair amount of musical things, and that involves quite a bit of software synth stuff now, naturally.

I've only actually made it to one, but I know several of the regulars and they have a supportive, enthusiastic "anything goes" attitude.  Hopefully toxi and I will both have something for an "opendork" session next month (though I'm not promising anything!).

I'll continue to use this thread to keep people up to date with the Processing infiltration of dorkbotlondon, so stay tuned Smiley
