a lot of what toxi and I have done is use our knowledge of graphics programming, or convert routines from other languages. anything is possible in java/p5 w/o excepting the limits of java itself, which isn't much. applets can be huge in size, contain large amounts of routines, and are limited only by current paradigms of computing. here's some great graphics how-tos: http://www.gamespp.com/algorithms/graphicsAlgorithmsFaq.html http://www.gamespp.com/programming/ -mad merv
