PDF download of the reference would be really nice
« on: Oct 16th, 2003, 6:24pm »

Hi, even though processing will alows u to acces the reference? It still would be nice to have a pdf one can print. because for some people like me the printed version would be easier to handle? I could help producing it. How do others feel about this?

We are working on this. The reference is a series of XML files and the plan is to import them into Adobe InDesign 2.0. Elio Bidinost has been working on the template and importing.

Do you have experience with this?

It would probably be pretty easy to make some XSL or some other kind of translation routines to convert the XML into some other format (HTML, LaTeX, etc)

And from there, PDFs would be just a single step away (pdflatex, etc).

Just a thought.

Can I get access to the original XML?  I'd like to experiment...

Old thread, sorry I only just saw it

you don't even need to go via HTML/LaTeX to get from XML to PDF/PS, if you use XSL-FO and something like apache cocoon you can go direct from XML to PDF/PS/RTF/whatever other binary file format you want and is supported.

I've got some experience of doing this so if anyone wants to know more, ask away
