Getting Started
« on: Apr 12th, 2004, 8:07pm »

I've been through processing.org of and on for a few weeks. I've been playing around with the sample code, etc. But, honestly, I need help just getting started. I'm fairly ActionScript literate and think I could do cool things with Processing, I just don't know where to start! Can anyone recommend a series of tutorials or just a good starting point? Sorry, I'm not even sure if this is the best place to post this question!

Start at the beginning...

Have you downloaded Processing, and does it run?  Do the example files work?

Assuming the answer is yes, have you tried Josh Nimoy's tutorial, from the beginning?

(I think it's pretty much up to date, but beware that the background function might have changed)

If you get stuck, post back and I'm sure we can try and help out.

Thanks Tom! I have installed with no trouble and have been through that tutorial. I guess I feel like there's still a significant jump from making points and lines to particles and image manipulation!
