Animation Programming?
« on: Apr 11th, 2004, 8:26pm »

Hey everyone:

I am working with a student in Flash/Actionscripting who I may want to transition into Java/Processing.  I have been doing some thinking with him about ways to program animations using non-timeline methods.  For example, what are people's thoughts about using something like processing or actionscripting without timelines or tweens to program a navigational website or other time based, partially interactive piece?

Aside from the normal methods (of setting a counter and programming cues to hit when the counter reaches certain times), does anyone have any other recommendations?  Does it seem like a futile exercise?  It's been an interesting couple weeks so far with this student, I am curious to hear what you have to say about this, if its even clear!
