java.util classes

does anybody know how to use the java.util classes? there seems to be a good amount of built-in java structure for comparing sets of objects and placing them in some ordered structure, and knowing how to use them might save the need to write my own methods to do the same things. i'm sure others would benefit from this stuff too. would anyone be willing to write a couple of small example programs, or just to explain the structure of this part of java? i realise this's not strictly Processing stuff, but then P5 is something of a stepping-stone into java -jacob
