seeking iSight info - want to change autogain

I just recieved an iSight as a gift, since I'm moving away. I'm not really planning to use it as my premium computer vision camera, but it's still nice to see if it's possible. I read through the posts here, and I understand that the image quality is not too good, etc. I my setup I got it to work without the 1fps problem. Only problem is that I need to be able to shut off it's auto white balance and auto gain to be able to do any analysis on the image. Is this even possible with iSight? Or it is all in the firmware and there's no way to change these with external commands? Also, just to add my 2 cents for firewire solutions for computer vision, forget all the webcams. They've all got auto gain and that really messes things up. You wan to do a search for industrial firewire cameras built for factories. Those are expensive, but they're really good quality, durable, and also made specifically for machine vision. They're like 300-800US for a cheap one. You can also buy all sorts of lenses.. but well, they're expensive also. So, it's not the cheapest solution, but it's tried and true.
