what camera?
« on: May 31st, 2004, 5:19am »

Im going to get a webcam to work with in processing, does anyone have a suggestion a camera that is good, reasonably priced and easy to get working with p5?
i dont want to have to spent a wekk trying to get a webcam to work with p5 so id like to get one that integrates seamlessly with processing.

thanks in advance!

They all should work fine with Processing. I recommend anything in the Logitech Quickcam Pro series, as they have a decent framerate, and great low-light performance (ie they work well with just a room light).

Bit pricey though.

I have used a Sony DV cam and the frame rate is great. I have also tried an iSight and the frame rate (with JMyron) was crappy.

Hi,

I'm experiencing also a low frame rate and bad quality (the cheapest ass messenger Webcam from Logitech) but how can i attach a DV cam for better performance like Venner? Trough Firewire? Jmyron works fine though a bit unstable sometimes.

Can somebody help?,
Cheers,

Note that you will generally get a much better framerate if you turn auto-exposure off. Also note that setting the exposure time to longer than the current framerate can cause slowness.
