java memory limit

hello everyone.
im testing a proce55ing version for a previously written actionscript code for a videoinstallation.
the videosequence is 200 frames long and its editing itself from code.
*the question is how to keep more than two 1024x768 jpegs in memory at the same time.
what is the memory limit, and how far you can push it in the case if i want a web version too?
(full sequence size is 5 MB)
please help me, probably its not impossible...
