I was wondering if commands saveStrings() and saveBytes() work on the web.

(un)fortunately that's not possible as this is a security restriction applying to all java applets (which also applies to processing sketches once they're exported). there's a way around it by digitally "signing" your exported sketch. some googling might help you more in that case
